Cassiobury – Fawcett 1880

Cassiobury. Chromolithograph by Fawcett, from Rev. Francis Orpen Morris
Picturesque Views of Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland 1880

Cassiobury House was a country house, now demolished, which was in Cassiobury Park, in Watford, England. Originally a Tudor building, dating from 1546 for Sir Richard Morrison and later owned by the Earls of Essex, it was demolished in 1927. The contents and many of the elements of the house were sold and some made their way to the USA. I have been asked to examine a house in Upstate New York that was apparently built with a number of these fragments.
