I lived at 34, Bolan Street (on first floor) around 1947/48 at the age of 5/6. There were prefabs opposite and the only names I can remember are “Beryl” and :Brian”. There was also a lady in the street who had a TV. She used to invite all the kids in to see the boat race every year. Me and my younger brother Michael went to the Oratory School in Chelsea and spent all our free time in Battersea Park.
I lived in the company house belonging to the, ‘BREWERY’, (2 Medway Cottage’, from 1934-1941.) The Brewery was the Anchor Vaults bottling plant for Barclay Perkins. The Hovis Flour Mills was to the immediate west adj, Ransome’s Dock.
Any information, maps etc., would be appreciated. Seems to be a Black Hole!
Thanks. Regards, AJ
p.s. Went to St Ehelberga’s School. Came back with camera…all gone!
I was brought up in number 146 Battersea Bridge Road above a butchers shop and when I was young watched the Ethelburgh Estate being built. The property was compulsory purchased and we moved out in 1968 to make way for the Surrey Lane Estate. I went to Bolingbroke School and still live in Battersea.

Thanks. A few of the factories remained in operation until the 1970s-80s, but by the early 1990s the area had been redeveloped.
