That’s a wonderful painting. I’m guessing the Black Brunswicker is the dog? And why is there a portrait of Napoleon on the wall – as a mark of respect for an old vanquished foe or a current one?
….Who are the figures…they look similar to Albert and Victoria.
Millais was a close friend of John Leech and if I remember correctly they went on holiday together. Millais drew a portrait of Leech which is in the NPG.
