Kew Palace

Patrick Baty spent a couple of years working on the major refurbishment project at Kew Palace

The most intimate of the royal palaces, Kew was built as a private house in 1631 and used by the Royal family between 1729 and 1818. In happier times, George III, Queen Charlotte and their 15 children enjoyed a relatively simple domestic routine at Kew.

I spent a couple of years working on the recent major refurbishment project.

This view of the Print Room at the nearby Queen Charlotte’s Cottage shows the green verditer colour that was found in many rooms in the Palace. Papers and Paints mixed the colour specially for both buildings – the reference number of this colour is SC426
