Geffrye Museum, London

Patrick Baty has been working on paint and colour-related matters at the Geffrye Museum for many years

I have been advising the Geffrye Museum on paint and colour for twenty years.  In a recent project I investigated the paints and the colours employed on the exterior of the fourteen almshouses that form the museum building.

The paint samples suggested that major work was carried out on the buildings at the end of the nineteenth century and much evidence of the earlier schemes had been removed.  The present paint colours of dark bronze green; lead colour and pale stone colour were based on my recommendations.
