Patrick Baty: Consultancy

Patrick Baty working

Patrick’s main interest is the use of colour in / on historic buildings. Projects can take many forms.

There may be a situation where it is important to know how a room had been decorated throughout its existence or at a particular time. For example, an historic figure may have lived in the house, and it is thought important to redecorate it as it would have been when occupied by him / her. In that case paint analysis would be the only way of establishing this.

However, it may be that an understanding of the type of colours / paint used at a particular time will be sufficient. Perhaps it is a private house (not open to the fee-paying public) where a scheme sympathetic to the age and style of the house is thought appropriate.

It is possible that existing colours need to be matched, in which case readings can be taken with a spectrophotometer and paint produced to match the colour.

General Advice

If the requirement is rather less specific and if one is looking for general colour advice and an enormous range of paint colours, then a visit to Papers and Paints may be the answer.

You can also bring in wallpapers, soft furnishings or other paints for us to match.
