Eltham Lodge, Kent (1663–1664) was the first completed work of Hugh May. It was built for Sir John Shaw, Bart. in brick, with a stone pediment and Ionic pilasters. The double-pile house reflected Dutch influence.
The lodge is now the Club House of the Royal Blackheath Golf Club.
I have worked here on two occasions providing colour and technical advice for the redecoration of the late 17th century interiors.
I have also worked at the nearby Eltham Palace.
